My Babies

My little girl will be turning three on Thursday! She has been moved to the room with beds for the older toddlers, but it has been reported that she has a worsening hair pulling problem!

My little man is looking happy, and even chubby!! He turned one last month. And his skin looks great too! I am still working on getting him a medical visa, but we have hit another bump in the road.

I look forward to seeing them both soon!

Raul Turns One!

Unfortunately I was very sick on Raul's birthday, 10/19, but luckily a few days before we were able to light a candle for him on my mom's birthday cake! I heard he was in a good mood for his birthday, and that Dan wished him a Happy Birthday for us all! We were hoping he would get his passport the week of his birthday, but we will have to be patient a little longer. We haven't forgotten you baby boy!

Volunteers Needed!

There are currently only two volunteers signed up to be in Tutova for Christmas, on a team starting December 18th. Also only two volunteers signed up for the team starting January 1st. Could you join this team and help the children celebrate?

There are currently NO volunteers signed up for the four teams between February 12th and April 16th! This is way too long for the children to go without the stimulation from volunteers. Could you volunteer any of these dates? February 12th, March 5th, March 26th, and April 16th?

New Babies!

Costel was born April 16th, 2010. He has some congenital malformations, but the volunteers aren't sure exactly what at this point.

Ana Maria was born February 10th, 2010, and only weighs about 6 pounds. They believe she has a heart condition and a genetic growth problem.

Credit to Evan for the pictures and info.

Roxana Is Home!

From a current volunteer's blog: "Roxana's parents came today and took her home! :) They were so happy to be able to take her with them. Her parents live in a gypsy village nearby and have 4 other children."

Day 79

The last couple days were hard as I prepared to leave Tutova. I was very happy when Ionut, Petre, Andreea, and Roxana came back from the hospital in time for me to have a couple days with them before I left. They were able to start coming outside right away, which was very nice. Raul on the other hand is no longer allowed outside after his face swelled one morning and the staff worried about allergens and bug bites. Yesterday I stayed late at the clinic to spend time with Alina and Raul in the little playroom. After their nighttime bottle, I put them to bed, and went around to give each child a kiss. Only a few tears were shed, as I know that I will be back soon : ) . Today three of us rode down to Bucharest, and tomorrow I will be flying back to Boston!
