Day 47

After feeding bottles this morning, I went to spend time with Raul and Nicoleta. Raul and I played for a while, but it was too cold to go out, though he still fell asleep in my arms. Then I went to see Nicoleta who was also fussing. We spent some time walking the halls until she fell asleep as well. Then I went back to the playroom to play with all the non-mobiles. When we got back after lunch all the children were already in the playrooms as the staff were doing a "super clean". I think many had been woken from naps, as they were VERY cranky all afternoon, especially Marius, Ionut, and Alina. We also had Nicoleta in the playroom all afternoon as her room was being cleaned as well. She seemed happy to be with the other kids, but did not eat very well. The nurse said she has laryngeal stridor which is why her breathing sounds off, and why she sometimes has trouble eating. They said to feed her while she is vertical, then just hold her upright instead of burping her normally.

Nineteenth Birthday

This morning I was talked to my mom, then walked down to breakfast where I was greeted with a song of "Happy Birthday". When the waiter heard it was my birthday he offered champagne, but we politely declined the early morning drink. Mihaela met me with a huge arrangement of flowers (yellow tulips, and something purple), which was very nice! At the clinic I dressed Alina in her cupcake outfit, and attempted to get her to wear the tiara I bought her last night. After lunch we had a party at the clinic for my birthday. Delia had picked out another bouquet of flowers for me in town, which was very sweet! We had my favorite kind of cake from the bakery, and Mihaela put on trick/sparkler candles. We all had some cake and juice/soda, then went to work with the kids. After bottles I took Raul and Alina outside for an adventure, and Raul even took his evening bottle in the playroom!

The Adventures of Raul Part Three

Raul went outside for about half an hour this afternoon, this makes three work days in a row (Friday, Monday, Tuesday)! This time he also got to wear a pair of overalls I brought over his other clothes. He again held onto a leaf for most of the time we were out; I think he's an outdoorsy boy!

Andrei left at lunchtime today to go home with his mom. He seemed happy with her, and waved as he went. It seems that this will be a very positive move for Andrei!
