Stefan, the prince of the mobile room, has gone back to his family. He left during the last team, so in the last three weeks, when his parents came to get him. He was a normally developing baby, and hopefully he will continue to thrive back at home.

Alexandru (my elf baby) is cute as ever! He has an amazing farmers tan that shows off how much he loves to play outside. He learned to walk a couple weeks ago and is really good inside, but still struggles outside with the uneven ground and the fact that he has to wear shoes. He has been having more tantrums than he had in March (including lots of head banging) but is usually okay with a little attention. We try not to totally give in to him, but we have to hold him enough so that he doesn't hurt himself. He really likes going on stroller rides and seeing the animals around the campus.

Maiastra is now four years old and is about the same developmentally. In the new building there is not a long hallway for her to use the walker in, so she has to stay in the playroom sometimes. What she really likes is to go out in a stroller and go around the hospital grounds looking at all the flowers. She is able to tolerate a little more time in the playroom, but still cannot be fed there.

We were surprised when we were reminded that Florin is still not two years old, he is a BIG boy (only two weeks older than Adrian). He is still an emotional roller coaster, but when he smiles it melts your heart. He still likes to hold is head at odd angles and look at wheels and machines (maybe a future mechanics assistant?). His family really DID come from Italy to visit a couple weeks ago like they promised when we were here in March, and they might be taking him home in the next few weeks.

Adrian is doing better with being independent, but he still has his "I need to be held" tantrums fairly often. He is enjoying the yoghurt more, it still comes through his nose sometimes, but he will hopefully soon have his second surgery to fix his cleft palate. He is also walking and loves playing outside in the sand and on the playground.

Alexandra loves to "read" books (or at least look at the pictures). Past volunteers are currently in the process of hiring a personal aid for her, at least for part time, which will do a lot of good for her. She needs a lot of attention, and thrives when it is available. Her favorite thing to do is still to be swung around in the air, although many of the new volunteers are still unsure about the safety of this due to her brittle bones etc., but by the end they'll probably all be doing it.

Michaela was learning to walk last time we were here, and now she is running everywhere! She is a totally normal developing baby and even spends some afternoons in with the toddlers and their pre-school teacher. She is a very happy girl (except for when the yoghurt runs out), and loves to play outside.

Sammy is three now, but is still at about the same stage of development. He does not like to be made to stand up or walk with assistance, and gets upset when he has to. He doesn't talk at all, but he does make noises. He is still a big eater, and would be happy eating all of the other childrens' bottles as well as his own. He is a very sweet boy though and loves to be tickled when you wake him up in the morning.
