Mario is three months old (born August 1, 2oo9), and is from Barlad. He is anemic, has some other blood problem, is malnourished (only weighs a couple pounds), and has already had surgery to help enlarge his too small stomach. He had his surgery in Iasi, which they say has the best children's hospital in Romania. He has wasn't too interested in his bottles today (I think he was gassy), and was pretty fussy, but was very cute. To get him to eat anything I had to walk around rocking him and patting his back simultaneously moving away the bottle every few seconds while he cried, but he did end up eating most of the bottle I fed him. His parents gave him a pacifier, but the clinic doesn't use them, so since he is new I let him use a bottle nipple as a pacifier for a while to calm him down. His parents had already gotten him the surgery he needed, and they were definitely sad to leave him there, so we think he will he just be at the clinic until he has gained weight and is healthier.
