Weekend

We decided to spend this weekend here in Tutova. After lunch Friday. some members of our team left for Brasov and Iasi, while the other three of us went back for the afternoon shift at the clinic. The older children were in pre-school so we were able to bring the babies into the bigger mobile playroom, and also spend some time with the isolated children. One of the twins, Andreea, was awake, so I brought her into the playroom (they had been being kept in their bedroom since they had been at the clinic less than three weeks). That night was our first night ordering off the menu for dinner, which was exciting!

Saturday we slept in, then had breakfast before spending about an hour and a half with the babies. Then we came back to do some laundry and have lunch. After lunch we decided to go into Barlad to the Plus to get more snacks. We got the server at the restaurant to explain the bus schedule, and went outside to wait, but when the bus eventually came about half an hour late, it passed us by. Then we decided to take a taxi, which was more expensive but more reliable. We went to the Plus, Penny Market, and the bank before walking a ways to find the taxi stand and get a ride back to Tutova. Ordering our dinner went faster that night, and we were out of the restaurant in an hour, though there still weren't any good movies on that night.

This morning we had a similar routine. We slept in a little, had breakfast, then went to the clinic for two hours to play and help with the feeding. We had a fun group in the non-mobile group this morning: Andreea, Alina, Marius, Gabriela, Paula, Daniela. It was a mix of mobiles and non-mobiles, which was fun, and a bit hectic. Alina was allowed out of the sick room for the second day in a row, which was exciting! She has a new habit of taking her left arm out of her sleeper. She is even happier when she can get both out, but if it's only one, it is always the left arm. When we came back we were joined by Gideon and Jane at lunch. Then after lunch Jane joined us on another trip to the clinic, while Gideon stayed to do laundry. We started the afternoon with the mobiles, then moved all the non-mobiles to the baby room (and Alex to the pre-school room). We weren't able to get Alina out of the sick room because the others in there were awake and screaming, but I did bring both of the twins into the non-mobile room, and the aides didn't mind, so they might be freed from their isolation for good! At the end we visited the sick rooms and isolation room. Last night of ordering off the menu tonight (we are actually looking forward to arriving to pre-ordered meals again tomorrow), and we are waiting on one more teammate to arrive back from Iasi.

Sammy was doing a little bit better today. Yesterday he didn't even want to be picked up, and was moaning all day (he also felt feverish), but today he let us play a little. I took him out of his crib and he sat in my lap, then played a bit with us and the nurse, then even walked between us un-aided. The nurse even got him to smile once! We are hoping they will work out a schedule for him so he will be able to come out and play more often; he can't sit in that little crib for three weeks (the isolation period)!
