Days #5 + #6

Yesterday was Alina's second birthday! We brought her a special outfit, and she was allowed out of the isolation room all day, and spent her time wandering from room to room. Over all the kids were happy in the morning, and we continued to split our time between all the rooms. We also took turns holding Maria in her room and in the hallway. After lunch we brought back over a cake for Alina's birthday party. We put a hat on her and sang happy birthday, then all the mobiles and some non-mobiles joined the party to eat cake. Even little Petre was lucky enough to score a bite of frosting. Then we cleaned up and brought all the kids back to their normal rooms to play for the afternoon. I spent a bunch of my time with Petre, Roxana, and Andreea on a blanket in one of the bedrooms. When we went for the first evening shift the children were very energetic, and the aides seemed a bit frustrated with us, but luckily the after dinner group had better luck.

This morning I fed Petre, then spent time with the quarantined kids (the runny nose room and the twins room). Towards the end of the morning I went into the normal isolation room to play with Ionutz and Tanya came in to work with Ema-Elena. Bottles were late, and we were curious as to what was happening. All of a sudden Coca (sp?) burst through the door with a little bundle of snowsuit and said "baby". Once they got all the layers off, we saw our newest addition: a three month old boy with intestinal problems who is very tiny. The parents were there to drop him off and seemed very sad, so hopefully he will gain weight quickly and be able to go home. They bathed him, weighed and measured him, and got him into a sleeper while we fed our babies their bottles. I spent the afternoon shift with the new baby, Mario, and it took the full shift to get him to eat most of his bottle. Dan had put Ema in the swing, but the batteries weren't working, so I also had to push her swing with my foot as I walked around the isolation room with Mario.
