Day Seven (3/7)

We got to Iasi at around seven last night, then found a cab to our hotel. We put our stuff in our rooms, then headed out to find dinner. We found a restaurant that had good food, but was very smokey. I already have a cold, so the smoke killed my throat. Then we walked back to our hotel which is “two stars, but clean”. This morning we met Radu, our guide, at eight, then begun the long drive to the painted monasteries. He explained some villages along the way, and we stopped once, before finally reaching the first monastery. We went to the first two before going to a local house for lunch. The woman there was very nice, and the food was pretty good. Then we went to the third, and largest, monastery. Unfortunately, it was raining and there was snow on the ground, so it was not very pleasant out. Then it was a long drive back, during which we hassled Radu about his girlfriend who he wouldn’t let us visit. We opted out of dinner because we were exhausted. Radu gave us some tips for the border crossing into The Republic of Moldova tomorrow, and it sounds a bit sketchy, but I’m excited.
